Looking for something new to do with the family this summer? Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail celebrated their Grand Opening last week. The first segment from “The Dune Climb” to Glen Arbor is now open to the public, approximately 8 miles of paved multi-use path.

Last week I happened to be Up North with some friends and we were able to get a preview of the new trail segment. The path is wide, smooth and flat—a perfect ride for kids and those not used to rigorous cycling. The trail winds through Sleeping Bear National Park offering wooded and scenic views.

If you begin your ride at The Dune Climb, you’ll ride through DH Day Campground where you can stop for a bathroom break or refill your water bottles.
